Research and Innovation Task Force: Learning Analytics
About the Task Force:
The Research and Innovation Task Force force was set up by the ICDE Executive Committee in January 2016 with the mandate to encourage the development of best practices and standards in open, distance, flexible and online education, including e-learning. The Task Force is chaired by ICDE Executive Committee member, Belinda Tynan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice-President - RMIT University.
The new ICDE Strategic Plan highlighted that members would like to be more informed about research and innovation within distance education and it is with this in mind that the ICDE Executive agreed and proposed that a Research and Innovation Task Force be established to conduct a meta-study on the state of play regarding research and grand challenges in ODL and advise the ICDE Executive Committee on R&I issues.
An area of priority for ICDE members was the area of learning analytics. In light of this the ICDE Research and Innovation Task Force have selected two research teams who are developing insight papers on Learning Analytics to be delivered by 30 September 2016. Papers are foreseen to be presented at Presidents’ Summit in Sydney, where there will also be arranged a “Learning Analytics Marketplace” allowing members to present their work on the subject.
