The International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) is seeking expressions of interest for hosting the 2018 ICDE Presidents’ Summit
A sharp leadership focus is wanted for the 2018 Summit.
ICDE takes account of the geographical balance of its members when deciding upon the location of its conferences as well as ease of access. For the 2018 ICDE Presidents’ Summit bids from ICDE members in South America will have priority, with Arab states and Europe given second priority.
What is the ICDE Presidents’ Summit?
The ICDE Presidents’ Summit is a unique annual forum that provides a platform for peer to peer discussion for policy level decision makers from ICDE member institutions, invited institutions and co-operating organizations. Rectors, Presidents, and Chief Executive Officers from around the world are enabled to meet confidentially, affording institutional executive leaders the opportunity to speak freely on a wide range of critical and extraordinarily sensitive subjects, exchange information, share expertise and knowledge, establish benchmarks, and determine advocacy directions and highlight the latest issues affecting leadership in education both on a regional and global level.
Through the summit, individual university leaders can contribute to shaping international policy and gain valuable information on the latest trends and developments. In connection with the ICDE Presidents’ Summit, ICDE also usually organizes the ICDE Policy Forum which is an ICDE yearly forum for handling issues of major interest as well as a closed meeting for Presidents only. ICDE and its Executive Committee provide general guidance, and holds the main responsibility for the content of the Policy Forum and Presidents meeting while the host provides the venue, support services, workshop arrangements and facilitates the organization of the event.
