Tecnológico de Monterrey Seeks New International Collaboration Agreements
Tecnológico de Monterrey, through its Digital Education Internationalization Office, has promoted for many years multiple activities to offer its online graduate students a global option for competitiveness.
Some of these activities include Virtual Academic Exchanges, International Online Certificates, International Online Concentrations and International Academic Trips. More than 3,500 students have participated in these and other activities in cooperation with Universities from all over the world.
During October 2017, 109 students participated in the first OMIX online multicultural experience, a project developed by the Internationalization Office, which consisted in the creation of a virtual classroom that allowed to bring together a multidisciplinary group of students from 21 universities around the world, with a variety of cultural contexts, to work as a team.
Through a transversal element such as ethics, the participants had the opportunity to reflect upon different cultural aspects. This shared activity allowed them to observe the impact that international experiences and virtual multicultural interaction have on the cultural intelligence perception that students have of themselves.
The OMIX project lead us to explore Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) as a new option of internationalization for our students. COIL has been promoted among teachers from Tecnológico de Monterrey’s online graduate courses, allowing them to interact with professors and students from different countries, cultures, universities, and even academic levels.
All these opportunities of internationalization enrich the student's perspective, giving them new skills to face a global environment.
