Teachers for the future - a focus for the the UNESCO Institute for IT in Education in 2016


The Governing Board for the UNESCO Institute for IT in Education met to set directions for 2016.


The Board (picture) met to take stock and set future directions. The institute and the Board members are actively following up on the new agenda for global learning: "Education 2030: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”, which also is the new Sustainable Development Goal 4 - comprising all countries - all parts of education.

The Institute and its Board has a focus on IT in education, in particular on teachers, and will in 2016 be active in a number of initiatives and events, for example the Mobile Learning Week 2016 ‘innovating for quality’.

And the ICDE supported conference UNESCO-UNIR ICT & Education Latam Congress 2016, to take place in Bogota, Colombia, from June, 22th to June, 24th, 2016.

Mansoor al Awar, Vice Chancellor for the ICDE member university Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, is chairing the board. The ICDE Secretary General is a Board member. 

In addition to all its activities, the institute has also supported the work on OER in less used languages, by translating the ICDE produced Policy Brief "Open Educational Resources in Your Own Language, in Your Way', from the LangOER project, into Russian and a number of other languages. Later this year, probably in the beginning of September, the UNESCO IITE is organizing an international conference, also foreseen to be coordinated with the UNESCO Chairs network within ICT in Education.
