ICDE engages in International Task Force on Teachers
The International Task Force on Teachers is a global alliance focusing on the role of teachers in the Education 2030 agenda. The 8th Policy Dialogue Forum is being held in Mexico 15-17 March with ICDE on the spot, represented by our member institutions UNISA (South Africa) and Universitas Terbuka (Indonesia). Commonwealth of Learning (also an ICDE member) is coordinating the first workshop on Online, Distance and Flexible Learning and Teachers Education under the umbrella of the Task Force.
The Teacher Task Force is a significant global initiative following up the new Sustainable Development Goal for Education (SDG4) and the Incheon Declaration’s approach to teachers and teaching: “We will ensure that teachers and educators are empowered, adequately recruited, well-trained, professionally motivated and supported within well-resourced, efficient and effectively governed systems”. The task force is sponsored by the European Commission, the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Unesco and the Government of Indonesia.
The main focus in Mexico will be the sharing relevant policies, practices and tools among international key stakeholders of the teacher-related target in the SDGs and new the education agenda.
