Institute of Management Studies (IMS) joins ICDE as the latest new member


The Institute of Management Studies (IMS), registered as University in Zambia. IMS is a private University with offices located in Ndola, Zambia.  IMS was established in 2017 and was officially opened by the Secretary to the Cabinet Dr Roland Msiska on 20th October, 2017.

The University is approved by Higher Education Authority – Ministry of Higher Education a body that regulates, controls standards for higher education in Zambia.

IMS is founded by Dr. Srinivasa Rao who has vast experience in Process Excellence, FMCG, Commodities and Farming Divisions with over 25 years experience working across the globe. He is actively involved in operational / process excellence methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, Energy and Strategic Chain Management. As such, IMS has envisaged that it can be the leading provider in post graduate studies with a focus in Process Excellence at the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) levels. The institute also aims at improving the welfare of the stakeholders in the community through employment creation and service delivery. At a global level, IMS has realized the need to embrace developing technologies which are changing the way businesses work and as such; the institute will offer its programmes entirely through Open distance and E-Learning. Suffice to mention that IMS having recently obtained an affiliation with the International Council for

Open and Distance Education (ICDE) a body which welcomes all educational players particularly those entering digital supported learning and teaching has not come at a better time than this. IMS will ensure that the role of ICED in promoting quality digital, open and flexible education and of promoting best practice among its members are supported and achieved.

At a national level, Zambia has tapped into the global technological advancements and currently has one of the highest networked business systems. In view of this, IMS’ vision is to serve the people, industries, and society by providing practical solutions to real life problems, offering services in training and mentoring in Continuous Improvement Methodologies (i.e. Lean-Six Sigma) through Open distance and E-Learning. The institute also aims at improving the welfare of the stakeholders in the community through employment creation and service delivery with a focus on these globally proven Continuous Improvement/Process Optimization Methodologies.
