Global Leaders in Open and Distance Learning Converging on Sydney: The Top Leadership Meeting for 2016 – Join Us!

The Sydney ICDE Presidents’ Summit will be an invaluable opportunity to share leadership insights among university leaders from across the world. Higher Education is in a period of rapid change as the predictions for technological disruption start to come true. Australia has been a site of particular innovation in the distance and online space.

Although a developed country, Australia is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world and has a rich history of distance education innovation at all levels. It has also embraced market-based reforms over the last few decades which have seen it grow one of the largest international student sectors in the world, and it has close links to South East Asia and particularly China.

The Australian HECS-HELP system has been recognised as world leading in providing a system which minimises up front costs for students and enables participation from all sections of society.

Our aim for the Sydney meeting is to create a highly interactive and entertaining environment which will provide a rich discussion and sharing of perspectives from across the whole world. Our aim is to allow all participants to share and be exposed to the best global thinking in open, online and flexible learning.

Please visit the Summit web site at to register and make your hotel reservations. This will be the best professional development opportunity for ODL leaders in 2016. We look forward to seeing you in Sydney.

Warm regards,

Professor Andrew Vann
