EPICA Project Launch
For two days and a half the EPICA consortium gathered at Hunderfossen in Norway for the Project Kick-off meeting, the very first meeting gathering all consortium partners from Europe and Africa. EPICA is also known as the "Strategic Partnership for the Co-Design of an Innovative and Scalable ePortfolio".
After a general introduction from the ICDE Secretary General on the international state of play of online, open and flexible education, Prof. Bakary Diallo Rector of the African Virtual University in Kenya introduced the African context for Education. Andrea Contino from My Documenta, the company that set up the consortium and initiated the EPICA project presented the key objectives, goals and challenges of the EPICA project to the consortium.
Participants also presented their team, their institution/company/university and finally their involvement in the Project. Work-Packages were presented one by one to allow all participant to have a clear understanding of all deliverables foreseen to be delivered by the project.
In addition to presentations and discussions from the Consortium and the EPICA Project two presentations were given by external speakers :
Gary Matkin from the University of California gave a presentation on Alternative credentials, microcredentials, badges.
Mette Villand Reichelt from Høgskolen I Innlandet in Norway gave a presentation on Lifelong learning and the lifelong learning summit to be held in Lillehammer in February 2019.
