A new ICDE Executive Committee, EC, takes office – new priorities for ICDE to be agreed


To lead ICDE, a new ICDE Executive Committee took office in January and will constitute itself in its first meeting next week, 22-23 January, Oslo, Norway, where the new ICDE President will be elected.

The EC will also decide on new priorities, the ICDE Activity Plan for 2018 – 2019 and consider key priorities as the UNESCO Quality initiative for higher education (below) and policies for future ICDE events. You will be informed on the results from the meeting.

The EC members are:

Asha Sing Kanwar, President & Chief Executive Officer, Commonwealth of Learning. EC member 2016-2019

Ansary Ahmed, President/CEO, Asia e University. EC member 2018 - 2021.

Belinda Tynan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice-President, RMIT University, Australia. EC member 2016-2019.

Hazel Rymer, Pro Vice Chancellor (Learning and Teaching Innovation), The Open University of UK. EC member 2018 - 2021.

Neil Fassina, President, Athabasca University. EC member 2018 - 2021.

Tolly.S.A. Mbwette, (individual members representative, co-opted December 2017) Professor of Environmental Engineering at The College of Engineering and Technology at the University of Dares Salaam as well as a Professor of Environmental Science and Technology at the Open University of Tanzania (OUT). EC member 2018 -2019.

Great thanks to the EC members that leave

Alan Tait, Mandla S. Makhanya, Maxim Jean-Louis, and Yang Zhijian left the ICDE EC by end 2017. Great thanks from ICDE for their outstanding work through an exciting period for ICDE, as special thanks to the ICDE President Mandla Makhanya for his sound and inclusive leadership since 2016.
