Biography:

In 1984, I initiated my career at Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Monterrey as a Professor at the Research Center in Informatics, where I performed several activities such as consulting, research and teaching.

In 1996, I joined the Virtual University where I was appointed Director of the Graduate Program of Engineering and Technology, being responsible for the online master programs. In 2003, I was appointed Associate Director at the Graduate Program of Engineering in Campus Monterrey. In 2007, I returned to the On-line Programs (before named Virtual University) where I was appointed as Academic Director, with several responsibilities, such as internationalization, quality enhancement, library, office of the Registrar, and academic key performance indicators.

Since September 2018, I am Program director for Business and Education master online programs. Currently I am the representative of Tecnológico de Monterrey for Quality Matters.

I have supervised more than 50 master thesis in the field of information technology management; participated in several national and international conferences, and published a book on research methodology.

I hold a Bachelor Degree in Business and Technology, an MBA, and a PhD in Business with major in Technology Management granted by Tecnológico de Monterrey. Part of my doctoral studies were at Glasgow University.

I am married and have two sons. All of us enjoy traveling and knowing different cultures.

I really enjoy teaching as well as interacting with students, as one of my hobbies is to know different persons, their culture and customs. I always learn from my students and my coworkers, it is a world full of wisdom! We all will have a knowledge adventure.

Vision for ICDE:

According to my understanding and experience, it is required to focus on several factors and activities:

a. Promote internationalization for students via technology and distance education
b. Develop guidelines that promote academic integrity in distance and online education for existing and new online programs.
c. Cooperate with accrediting institutions to promote quality education standards.
d. Promote internationalization of program curriculum and faculty by the use of educational technological platforms.
e. Develop training programs for faculty and academic administrators regarding online and distance education.
f. Diversify programs and overall educational online services among universities in different regions.
g. Promote affordable and inclusive distance education programs for the marginalized communities.
h. Foster virtual research communities in the world.
