Join executive leaders at the ICDE Global Presidents’ Forum 2023!

Welcome to the ICDE Global Presidents’ Forum 2023 (GPF 2023)

We warmly invite executive leaders in the ICDE community to join us for the annual ICDE Global Presidents’ Forum 2023 (GPF 2023).

The ICDE GPF 2023 will take place in-person on Monday 6 November at 13:00 – 16:30 UTC-6 in San José, Costa Rica, as part of the 29th ICDE World Conference.

The Forum, led by ICDE President, Dr Neil Fassina, aims to bring together expert insights and valuable viewpoints from top leaders in the Open, Flexible and Distance Learning (OFDL) field.

All GPF participants will be invited to join an exclusive reception event following the Forum.

Audience

This exclusive forum is developed specifically for Presidents, Vice-Chancellors, Principals, Rectors, and CEOs of ICDE member institutions and organisations.

If the senior executive member is unable to attend, ICDE member institutions and organisations may send a second level executive as their representative. (e.g., Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Vice-Presidents).

Topic

This year’s selected topic builds on the 2022 ICDE Global Presidents’ Forum, which concluded that OFDL has its unique DNA and that there is a potential need for a “brand refresh” to explain its value as a transformative power for sustainable education and social justice.

The GPF 2023 will focus discussions on how ICDE leaders may consider alternative messages and strategies to advocate for the growth of modern OFDL environments.

GPF 2023 will therefore seek to answer the following questions:

  1. How can leaders effectively convey the complexity of modern OFDL environments using messaging that is understandable and accessible by the average person?
  2. What new approaches to advocacy can be used to ensure that this message is received by a wider audience?

Format

A combination of breakout and plenary discussion will be facilitated by the Chair, and supported by the ICDE Board members and Secretariat. With the intention of being solution-focused, the discussion through the session will be split between conceptual/theoretical and practical/applicable.

The final outcome of the GPF 2023 will be a summary report of the observations and descriptions created by the participants.
