Quality reviews - call for reviewers
Published 02.05.12ICDE is working to develop its Quality Review service for institutions and announces a call for interest for individuals willing to join the pool of reviewers. Reviewers work in small teams and study documentation, visit the institution, and submit a report. Remuneration is provided, and travel costs and incidental expenses are covered.
Regional perspectives on ODL
Published 15.02.12ICDE works closely with regional and key national open and distance learning associations, and invites such organizations to join ICDE as associate members. In a series of interviews with association presidents, they describe the most promising events in their region during 2011 and the key challenges for 2012 and beyond.

UNESCO World OER Congress update
Published 07.03.12ICDE Executive Committee President, Tian Belawati, will represent ICDE in a debate on the future of OER at UNESCO's forthcoming World OER Congress in Paris, France. The aim of the Congress, which will be held 20-22 June, is to promote OER at the policy level.
UNESCO teaching effectiveness award
Published 02.05.12Education projects from Nepal, South Africa and Venezuela have been announced as the winners of the UNESCO Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum prize for improving the quality of teachers and teaching.
UNESCO working paper series on mobile learning
Published 21.05.12UNESCO has recently published a series of working papers which highlight examples of mobile technology use that can be employed to support the goals of Education for All. Two categories of paper, looking at initiatives and policy implications, and practice, are published for five regions of the world.
The first Unisa international ODL conference

OER Asia symposium

Registration opens for SCOP 2012 in Dubai
Published 21.05.12The 2012 ICDE Standing Conference of Presidents (SCOP) meeting and Policy Forum will be held 12-15 November 2012 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, hosted by Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University. Entitled Open and Distance Education (ODE): Barriers, Opportunities & Strategies Forward, SCOP 2012 will focus on challenges and strategies for the implementation of open, distance and flexible learning.
