An OER Training Toolkit developed by Wawasan Open University has been published on the OER Asia website. Please also note that the OER Asia Symposium will be held at Wawasan Open University, Penang, Malaysia from 19-21 September 2012.

International Virtual Mobility grants

ICDE member institution UNED recently released a call for its International Virtual Mobility Grants. This grant programme aims to promote undergraduate student exchange between Latin American and European institutions.

Will Swann becomes President of EADTU

The General Board meeting of ICDE associate member, the European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU) recently appointed Will Swann as its President. He will take over from Carlos Reis, former Rector of Universidade Aberta in Portugal.

Call for reviewers reminder

ICDE would like to remind interested individuals that there are only a few weeks until the deadline for expressions of interest for quality reviewers. As part of ICDE's work to develop its Quality Review service for institutions it recently announced a call for interest for individuals willing to join the pool of reviewers. Reviewers work in small teams and study documentation, visit the institution, and submit a report. Expressions of interest should be received before 29 June.

Follow The Sun 2012 - recordings available

Recordings are now available for Follow The Sun 2012, a non-stop online global conference which took place 27–30 March. The theme of the conference, which spanned three continents and three time zones, was Futures for Knowledge.

25th ICDE World Conference to be held in China in October 2013

ICDE is pleased to announce the date and venue for the 25th ICDE World Conference on Open and Distance Learning. This biennial world conference will be hosted by Tianjin Open University, China, on 16-18 October 2013. Tianjin is a coastal city approximately 120km from Beijing

UNESCO World OER Congress begins

The UNESCO World OER Congress is underway at UNESCO Headquarters - a meeting of governmental actors, and a programme of seminars and panel discussions and exhibition of OER initiatives. Online streaming will include the ICDE panel debate on the opportunities from OER and open and distance education.

ICDE associate member, the Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia (ODLAA), will host their 2013 Distance Education Summit on 4-7 February 2013 in Sydney, Australia. ICDE Executive Committee President, Tian Belawati, will be a keynote speaker at the event.

UNESCO: Flexible learning for inclusive education
