ICDE is pleased to announce that the online journal, Open Praxis, will be relaunched as a journal for young researchers highlighting challenges, lessons and achievements in the practice of distance and e-learning. ICDE therefore announces a call for member institutions to apply for the editorship for a two-year term.

Keynote speaker announced for SCOP 2011

The programme is now available for the 2011 ICDE Standing Conference of Presidents (SCOP) meeting and Policy Forum to be hosted by SUNY Empire State College in New York, USA, on 19-22 June. Jagdish Bhagwati, University Professor at Columbia University and Senior Fellow in International Economics at the Council on Foreign Relations has been confirmed as keynote speaker.

Registration is now open for the 24th ICDE World Conference on Open and Distance Learning, and ICDE members are eligible for a discounted registration rate. To be held 2–5 October 2011 on the island of Bali, Indonesia, this year's conference will explore the potential for open and distance learning to expand educational access and participation.

The OEP Guide includes a maturity model, detailed description of the concept, and description of the elements which constitute Open Educational Practices.

OER planning meeting summary

At the end of February, the OER Foundation hosted an open planning meeting in Dunedin, New Zealand, for the project Open Educational Resources (OER) for Assessment and Credit for Students. UNESCO supported the online streaming of the meeting which enabled virtual participation by 202 participants from 46 different countries.
