United Nations University online conference on OER

The United Nations University Vice Rectorate in Europe (UNU-ViE) invites contributions for online discussions at its third international conference, hosted in collaboration with Science Connect, on 18–24 October 2010.

Entitled, On the Reuse of Open Educational Resources (OER) in Higher Education in Africa, the conference is being held in the form of a series of online events and face-to-face workshops in Africa.

The aim of the conference is to investigate ways to empower African higher education, and within this theme UNU-ViE invites contributions starting 18 October 2010.

Key questions to be considered:

  • What hinders the promotion of OER?
  • Is content the issue, or rather the regulations and systems?
  • What role do institutions play in the promotion of OER?
  • Does the creation of institutional OER give incentives to individual OER content developers?
  • Are there clear policies on the use and reuse of OER in the context of Higher Education?
  • What are the most inspiring and useful OER initiatives from around the world?

Experts in the field will take part in the conference to share their expertise and moderate the discussion.
