The OER materials produced through this exciting initiative are freely available to students, faculty, and self-learners around the world under a Creative Commons license.
The main functions of the network are to:
- Aggregate the results of multiple Health OER initiatives by collecting, classifying, tagging, and then actively sharing Africa-initiated resources with the global health community.
-
Facilitate discussion of how those resources can best be used.
-
Share examples of best practice.
-
Work through institutions and associations to advocate the principles of openness and sharing of educational materials.
The primary target is African health academics and faculties, first focusing on those whose language of operation is English, but with an openness to accommodate other languages if suitable partners indicate a willingness to drive processes in other languages. The network also includes individuals, health faculties, NGO’s, project teams, associations, consortia, government departments and other interested stakeholders.
