This UNESCO World Conference on the theme of “The New Dynamics of Higher Education and Research for Societal Change and Development”
will tackle Higher Education’s role in addressing major global challenges as well as societal commitment and social responsibility.
Parallel sessions will be held on: internationalization, regionalization and globalization; equity, access and quality; and
learning, research and innovation.
Each theme will be studied from different angles including: the possibilities offered by ICT and open and distance learning (ODL), including open educational resources (OERs); public and private roles and responsibilities; the emergence of new models and approaches; the implications in terms of funding and investment; and the implications in terms of governance and management.
The World Conference will be held at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, 5-8 July 2009.
