The conference will be held in Maastricht, The Netherlands on 7-10 June, and is aimed at all sectors of open and flexible
learning with a focus on universities, government and the business sector.
M-2009 is a one-time merger of the bi-annual World Conference of ICDE and the annual European Conference of EADTU. The theme for
M-2009 is “Flexible Education for All: Open – Global – Innovative”.
We have received almost 400 abstracts from all five continents for the parallel sessions. The reviewing process of the abstracts
has been finished and the authors have been informed about the results.
Based on the confirmed keynotes and the submissions for the parallel sessions we are working in good progress on making the
programme top quality, inspiring, challenging, thought provoking, attractive, and diverse - in terms of culture and continent
representation.
Maastricht
Maastricht’s vibrant history and its blend of European cultures, languages and trade routes lend it a unique charm and international
flavor. Dutch visitors to this most ancient, most European and most southerly city of the Netherlands find Maastricht so ‘un-Dutch’
that they feel as if they are abroad, while foreign visitors tend to feel perfectly at home in its international atmosphere.
Nestled between the borders of Belgium and Germany, Maastricht is an undoubted beneficiary of the European integration process.
The Euregion surrounding Maastricht lies in the centre of north-western Europe and is an area of great scientific, technological
and industrial potential, with a modern infrastructure, an internationally oriented multilingual population, a high standard
of living and many cultural and recreational facilities.

conference website for further information about keynote speakers, conference program and social events.
