The World Bank, through an open call, selected ICDE to carry out a number of projects on distance education and capacity building in a number of countries in Africa. On these projects, ICDE dealt with issues such as capacity building, mapping out of resources and status reports about distance education systems in Sub Saharan Africa. ICDE looked for the required expertise for the project implementation.
ICDE implemented the following projects:
- “DE and ICT for Teacher Development in Nigeria” (Phase 1 and Phase 2)
- Democratic Republic of Congo (Phase 1 and Phase 2) – “Options for application to achieve EFA goals in Sub-Saharan Africa”
- DE status and ICT for Teacher Development in Rwanda
- DE status and ICT for Teacher Development in Ethiopia
