1.3 New Delhi: 19-23 November

The ICDE International Conference in New Delhi was hosted by the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Conference brought together a large number of people with diverse backgrounds from all over the world; participants came from more than 80 countries.

                                                                                                                                                                               The main theme of the Conference was: “Open and Distance Education in the Global Environment: Opportunities for Collaboration”. With this ICDE International Conference IGNOU celebrated its 20th anniversary.

The Conference was structured into core events (plenary, parallel and poster sessions) and extension events (workshops, discussion groups and special interest events, as well as meetings, special concurrent sessions, exhibitions and media presentations).

The conference had many well-known international keynote speakers such as: Mr. Shri Arjun Singh, Minister for Human Resource Development of Government of India;

Professor Abdul W. Khan, Assistant Director General of UNESCO; Professor H.P. Dikshit, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU, India; Sir John Daniel, President Commonwealth of Learning, Canada; and Professor Jan Olav Fretland, Chairman of the Board of Norway Opening Universities.
