SCOP 2005 Cologne, Germany: 19-21 June

The main theme was “Universities in the Digital World: Potentials and Challenges for Innovation”. The host was the FernUniversität in Hagen and the main sponsor was the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

                                                                                                                                                                                   SCOP 2005 Cologne was organized as a workshop. Representatives of universities from all over the world attended this global forum for exchange of experiences on the current situation as well as further developments and perspectives of open and distance teaching universities in the global Information Technology Society. Renowned speakers from politics, industry, commerce and education around the world presented their views and explored items of relevance in the field of flexible, open, distance and net based learning and teaching in a constantly changing environment. Some of the speakers at the SCOP conference were: Dr. Roland DEISER, Founder and Co-Chairman Corporate University Learning Network, USA; Dr. Jamil Salmi, Acting Director, Education Department, World Bank; Prof. Dr. Walther Ch. Zimmerli, Founding President, Volkswagen AutoUni, Germany and Prof. Gerald A. Heeger, President, University of Maryland University College, USA and Prof. Sara Guri-Rosenblit (Open University of Israel).
