SCOP keynote Xavier Sala-i-Martín

Dr. Xavier Sala-i-Martín, Professor of Economics at Columbia University, New York will deliver the keynote at the SCOP meeting, 20-21 November.


Dr. Sala-i-Martín is also Senior Economic Advisor to the World Economic Forum, Davos, and as the photograph attests a keen supporter of Barcelona Football Club, where he is a Member of the Board of Governors.

His other positions include Member of the Advisory Board in Catalonia, Telefónica; Founder and CEO of the Umbele Foundation: A Future for Africa and President and Founder of CEOs Without Borders, New York.

Xavier Sala-i-Martín has a PhD and a master's degree in International Finance from Harvard University, and a degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has previously been a professor at Harvard, Yale and Pompeu Fabra universities.

ICDE and SCOP hosts, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), are immensely proud to be able to welcome an economist of the stature and experience of Xavier Sala-i-Martín to SCOP 2009. He will speak on the theme of The Financial Crisis, Innovation and Education
