ICDE Open Praxis - call for editor deadline extended

ICDE is pleased to announce that the online journal, Open Praxis, will be relaunched as a journal for young researchers highlighting challenges, lessons and achievements in the practice of distance and e-learning. ICDE therefore announces a call for member institutions to apply for the editorship for a two-year term.

As stated in its Strategic Plan, ICDE aims to contribute to the development of new methodologies and technologies. In view of this, ICDE has determined to make Open Praxis an arena where young researchers can publish and meet under the guidance of experienced practitioners in the field.

Call for editor

ICDE invites applications from potential editors from ICDE member institutions to serve for a two-year term. The first year is designated for preparatory work, the second year for publication of four issues of the journal. The Editor should be a researcher in the early years of their career or a doctoral student approaching the end of their PhD.

ICDE will make available a grant of USD 10,000, to be paid in five equal instalments, on signature of contract, and subject to satisfactory work after 6 months, 12 months, 18 months and 24 months.

Application process

Applications describing the candidate’s vision for Open Praxis and their personal motivation, should be supported by:

  • The candidate's CV
  • The candidate's publications list
  • Letter from a senior researcher who commits to provide guidance to the Editor for the two-year term and will act as Consultative Editor.
  • Letter of support from the Head of the Institution

Representatives of member institutions requiring more information should contact the ICDE Secretariat for a detailed description of the role.

The deadline for applications is 31 July. The successful candidate will be selected by the ICDE Secretary General, and subsequently confirmed by the ICDE Executive Committee.
