I am seeking to know if ICDE has any information on initiatives in India in the field of distance education. Are there opportunities for people interested to involve themselves in teaching those who are involved in learning thru distance education? For example, there are well qualified people who can spare time to teach those children/adults who are unable to access education from organized, high-cost, institutions. If there are initiatives by NGO's or other voluntary bodies where such needy children/adults are linked with those willing to teach them from a distance, across countries, continents, I would be interested in knowing more on this.

You may email to me at this id: v.subrahmanian@gmail.com

Many thanks for your post.

ICDE is not in contact with other NGOs or voluntary groups and the majority of the ICDE membership are involved in higher education, so unfortunately I am unable to advise you on organizations connecting young learners and teachers.

I would recommend that you contact the Commonwealth of Learning (http://www.col.org/Pages/default.aspx) as they may be able to assist you.

I wish you all the best with your plans.
