FIED is a non-profit association founded in 1987 as part of an initiative by the Ministry of Education in France. It's purpose is to unite a network of universities which have developed online and distance learning, while also representing this network on a national and international level. FIED is also a coordinator or partner in several education projects based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which aim to improve the quality of monitoring and mentoring students.
