Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is British Columbia’s fourth largest university with 23,000 students. The Open Learning Division of Thompson Rivers University (TRU-OL) was created in 2005 when the university assumed responsibility for all courses and programs of the former British Columbia Open University/ Open College (BCOU). Founded in 1978 as the Open Learning Institute, BCOU brought to TRU almost 30 years of experience in the field of open and distance education.
