Professor Ezra Maritim was Vice-Chancellor of Egerton University, Njoro, Kenya from 2000 – 2005. Between 2007 and April 2009, he was Visiting Professorat the University of South Africa in Pretoria, and is now at The Open University of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam.

Professor Maritim was elected the first General Secretary of the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) in January 2004 and held this position until April 2006.
