University World News: New partnership boosts e-learning in higher education
Published 16.05.13The African Virtual University (AVU) and the International Council for Open and Distance Education, or ICDE – a global body for the open and distance education community – have launched an e-learning partnership aimed at providing cost-effective and efficient tools to promote access to higher education in Africa.

This session brings together speakers representing universities in Brazil, Russia and India in a panel discussion exploring theoretical discourse, technology implementation and factors supporting and hindering developments. ICDE's 'Learning Cultures: An International Perspective' session took place 1 December 2011.

Published 02.11.11ICDE and President Frits Pannekoek feature in a recent article on online education and science in Nature, the highly-respected weekly international science journal. The article discusses challenges related to the acceptance of online learning for science subjects in higher education.
