The theme for this year's prize is Digital Literacy: Preparing Adult Learners for Lifelong Learning and Flexible Employment. Every year, this prize rewards projects and activities that demonstrate best practice as well as creative use of ICTs to enhance learning, teaching and overall educational performance. This year’s theme highlights the critical role of adult education in the development of an inclusive, participatory and sustainable society.
The US$50,000 prize is divided equally between two winners who are selected by the Director-General of UNESCO on the basis of recommendations made by an international jury. Winners will be celebrated at an award ceremony on 12 January 2011 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. Deadline for submissions is 30 September 2010. Please note that submissions must reach UNESCO via the governments of Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions for UNESCO, or via international non-governmental organizations that maintain formal relations with the Organization.
