EI is a non-profit educational foundation and has awarded more than 68,000 professional certifications since it introduced
its first, the Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA), in 1971.
The Educational Institute serves the needs of international learning institutions and hotel organizations through exclusive
Hospitality Education Program (HEP) license agreements in 45 countries, connecting the Educational Institute's research and

In 2008, EI established an agreement with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to offer a Bachelor of Arts program
