Award Winners
In 2003/ 2004, the ICDE Prizes of Excellence were awarded to two educational institutions and to a world-known professional for the highest possible excellence in the fields of distance and virual learning. Decisions to award the ICDE Prize of Excellence were based on merit alone. No political or cultural consideration was given in connection with awarding the Prize.
The Institutional Prize is shared by:
University of Maryland University College (USA) and Athabasca University Canada
This Prize is awarded to entities such as educational institutions; organizations; governments; and companies for very significant contributions to the field, particularly in terms of innovation, quality and leadership to mainstream development in moving the field of education and training into the future.
The Prize for Lifelong Contribution to the field was awarded to:
Prof. David Sewart (The Open University, UK)
The Prize awards lifelong achievements with a strong component of contributions to the international community of open distance learning.
