At the end of January, the seven project partners came together for a kick-off meeting hosted by the United Nations University Vice Rectorate in Europe in Bonn, Germany.

The two days of discussions aided by facilitators from the United Nations University, dealt with concepts, strategy and the vision for the project, and resulted in the production of two documents which we share with you now.

The first is a statement regarding the mission and vision of the project, available on the OPAL section of the ICDE website.

The second document is a discussion paper, Open educational practice - approaching a definition for a new concept. This describes:

  • The importance of the concept of open educational practice
  • The relationship between open educational practices (OEPs) and quality
  • The characteristics of OEPs
  • The state of adoption of OEPs
  • The challenges to adoption of OEPs
