European ELLI Index 2010

ELLI European Lifelong Learning Indicators Project - Making Lifelong Learning Tangible!

The European Lifelong Learning Indicators Project (ELLI project, www.elli.org) was launched in January 2008 in an effort to make the concept of lifelong learning more understandable and transparent. The European Lifelong Learning Index (ELLI) is an annual measure of Europe’s state of play of learning throughout the different stages of life, and across the different learning environments of school, community, work and home life.

ELLI introduces a new perspective on monitoring learning by collecting data from a broader spectrum than any previous attempts in measuring the state of learning. The ELLI Index and database highlights the role of learning not merely through education systems but in all aspects of human activity.

ELLI is based on the Canadian Learning Index (CLI) which was developed by the Canadian Council on Learning (CCL).

The European ELLI Index 2010 - Making Lifelong Learning Tangible! presents the first results of the ELLI Index and compares Europe’s progress in lifelong learning. Besides the country comparison the study illustrates the ELLI concept and methodology.
