E-MOTION Project

Electronic music and ICT to reach young people at risk of exclusion, and tackle school drop out rates.

E-MOTION is a two year project piloting an innovative informal learning approach based on music and ICTs to encourage young people to engage in learning activities.

Change and innovation in didactic methodology are essential successful elements to reduce school drop out rates, in particular of groups at risk of social exclusion including migrants, ethnic minorities, and those from poor socio-economic backgrounds. Music and particularly musical technologies are the project's lever to approach young people and lead them to learn those basic competences society demands.

The pedagogical approach taken by the project team combines creativity, fun and the acquisition of key competences. E-MOTION intends to pick out approaches that most suit the motivations and attitudes of at-risk young people - motivation being the magic word.

The project partners from Italy, UK, Romania and Spain have set themselves an ambitious plan of action which includes research and analysis, piloting and evaluation and eventually dissemination of the outcomes of their work.
