EFQUEL Innovation Forum, Barcelona, Spain, 26-27 September 2013

This conference is for practitioners in international quality and innovation in e-learning, training and development. The 8th EIF is being held in the context of the financial crisis and a regime of austerity which pose a great challenge to innovation in education, training and learning in Europe, both in the public and the private sector. The question where and how e-learning can add value to providing a high quality education is put into the center every more. The conference will look at the following themes:

  1. Quality in e-learning: Criteria, processes, methodologies
  2. Quality for new emerging technologies and pedagogies (e.g.MOOCs)

The Open and Flexible Higher Education Conference 2013, Paris, France, 24-25 October 2013

Organized by the European Association for Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU) and hosted by the Fédération Interuniversitaire de l'Enseignement à Distance, France (FIED), with the support of the French Ministry of Education and Research, the scope of this conference is "Transition to open and on-line education in European universities". 

This concerns topics directly related to:

  2. Institutional models for online or blended course and curriculum development and delivery
  3. Innovations in technology enhanced learning, innovating pedagogies

The 27th Annual Conference of the Asian Association of Open Universities, Islamabad, Pakistan, 1-3 Ocober 2013

The conference, hosted by ICDE member Allama Iqbal Open University has the theme of "Leveraging the Power of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) for Building a Divergent Asia –Today's Solutions and Tomorrow's Vision". The focus of the conference is to work for strengthening ODL to deal effectively with the problems of education in divergent Asia. The conference will provide a platform for ODL and other experts to share their views on the issues relating to the problems of illiteracy, making education accessible to all, use of technology, etc. to meet the current and future challenges in the field of education. The research and experiences of experts and institutions in ODL will be shared to make collaboration between different institutions work on new projects with an emphasis on the use of technology in ODL.

The 1st AOU International Conference on Open Learning: Role, Challenges, and Aspirations, Kuwait, 25-27 November, 2013

In collaboration with the Regional Center for Development of Educational Software (ReDSOFT), the Arab Open University (AOU) headquarter in Kuwait is organizing an international conference on open and blended learning, which will bring together a range of academics, psychologists, researchers, practitioners and decision makers from different countries and institutions. The conference will be an excellent opportunity to discuss the new trends in open learning and technology and to recommend solutions to the challenges of open learning. Papers will be presented in Arabic and in English with simultaneous translation available.

The main themes of the conference are:

  2. Techniques and methods of open learning and the required learning resources

The Unisa Cambridge International Conference on Open and Distance eLearning, Cape Town, South Africa, 29 September - 2 October 2013

The first Unisa Cambridge conference in the Southern Hemisphere in association with Cambridge Distance Education and the Commonwealth of Learning presents will continue the tradition, established by the Cambridge conference over the last thirty years, of a small-scale international conference for sharing ODeL knowledge and experience while highlighting issues particularly relevant to the Global South. Total participation will be limited to 100 delegates and the conference topic will be Continuity, Change and Sustainability in Open, Distance and eLearning.

Seventh Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning (PCF7), Abuja, Nigeria, 2-6 December 2013
