SCOP is an opportunity for Rectors, Presidents, and Chief Executive Officers from open and distance teaching institutions to meet in a closed and exclusive setting. The meeting will have the same structure as SCOP 2010, with opening events on Sunday, a Policy Forum on Monday, and the SCOP meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Alan Davis, President of Empire State College, said a few words on behalf of the College and the State University of New York (SUNY) at the closing of SCOP 2010 in Pretoria, South Africa, in September of this year:
"We hope to provide a rich programme to engage you as leaders in ODL and to build on this year's discussions as far as possible. We want to provide opportunities to hear from some outstanding keynote speakers drawn from the environment in which we will be hosting the conference."
