New host for Open Praxis

Following a call for interest for the renewal of its online journal, ICDE is pleased to announce that Inés Gil-Jaurena from Universidad Nacional de Eduación a Distancia (UNED), Spain, has begun a two-year term as editor. The relaunched Open Praxis will demonstrate creative and innovative research and highlight challenges, lessons and achievements in the practice of distance and e-learning.

ICDE aims to contribute to the development of new methodologies and technologies and in view of this has determined to make Open Praxis an arena where researchers can publish and meet under the guidance of experienced practitioners in the field.

ICDE invited applications from potential editors from ICDE member institutions to serve for a two-year term. The first year is designated for preparatory work, the second year for publication of four issues of the journal.

ICDE is pleased to announce that the successful applicant was Inés Gil-Jaurena (pictured),  Associate-Professor at the Faculty of Education at ICDE member institution Universidad Nacional de Eduación a Distancia (UNED), Spain. UNED is a leading institution in the field of distance education in Spain and has over 170 existing agreements with institutions in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa.

Inés Gil-Jaurena has been professionally active in UNED for the last 10 years and views the institution's commitment towards the improvement of distance education as a major factor in her motivation to apply for the editorship. Dr Gil-Jaurena is also very involved in exploring new methodologies, theories and technologies: "Both my training (PhD in Education) and my daily work (professor at a distance education university) relate to topics which I use to innovate and research, using new methodologies, technologies and theoretical frameworks that can enrich distance education and e-learning."

A first call for papers for the new Open Praxis will be announced in April 2012.
